As we near KindieComm 2015, we realize this winter has been quite distracting for many folks, especially those in the Midwest and New England states.
With that, we wanted to extend a special promo to everyone who hasn’t yet registered for KindieComm … just enter springtime in the Promo Code box and you’ll get the Early Bird rate of $75 … that’s a $15 savings and also allows you to be part of another informative, exciting gathering of Kindie folk far and wide!
Join us and be part of the KindieComm Family Reunion!
Make it a weekend and join us Friday for a KindieComm Happy Hour, 4-7pm at World Cafe Live (our host venue). The KindieComm registration table will be open for you to check in and pick up your name badge!
Then on Saturday, the morning starts with a continental breakfast then rolls into two Breakout sessions, followed by a FREE lunch, a songwriting workshop, a midday music break and culminating with a conversation between host Kathy O’Connell and the legendary Bob McGrath of Sesame Street!
After a dinner break, we’ll cap off KindieComm with the KindieComm Industry Showcase – featuring some of the best and brightest sounds in the Kindie world today!
If you choose, when your register you can purchase a ticket to Sunday’s public showcase, featuring performances by The Pop Ups, Joanie Leeds and the Nightlights and The Not-Its!
It’s all part of a great weekend celebrating the wild, wacky world that is Kindie!
KindieComm friend and Kindie musician Jason Didner (of Jason Didner and the Jungle Gym Jam) invited KindieComm co-director Robert Drake to join him by phone and chat about the history of KindieComm as well as the hopes for KindieComm 2015! Drake walks us through what to expect and look forward to at this year’s gathering for children’s music professionals and Jason shares some of his fun memories from the 2014 inaugural KindieComm.
A must-listen for anyone considering attending KindieComm 2015 this March in Philadelphia!
For those arriving to Philadelphia Friday March 20 – be sure to join us for the KindieComm Happy Hour in the Upstairs Live venue at World Cafe Live from 4-7pm! Learn how to properly say Yuengling – America’s oldest operating brewery (located right outside Philly) while enjoying $2 Yuengling bottles (light/black & tan) and $3 lager drafts. Plus there are other bar specials 4-6pm as well as $5 apps and $3 fries (we highly recommend the eggplant fries!).
Afterward, there are several places to dine Friday night, all within a few block radius. One that we recommend is The Fat Ham – steered by the winner of Bravo TV’s “Top Chef: Season 7” Kevin Spraga.
After winning Top Chef, Kevin returned home and opened the award-winning Spraga Restaurant in Center City Philadelphia. Soon after, he opened The Fat Ham here in University City section of Philly, embracing Southern cooking. Just this summer, Kevin opened his third restaurant – Juniper Commons – celebrating the positive elements of 80s cuisine along with a yummy oyster bar.
The Fat Ham is right down the block from World Cafe Live — one of several wonderful restaurants in our neighborhood. Once on site here at KindieComm, be sure to thumb through our Menu Guide that will be at the Registration Table for other ideas. We’ll be posting about each of them in the coming weeks, with the hope that you can take time to make new friends and collaborate on new ideas over good food and great conversation all weekend long at KindieComm!
Hosting the KindieComm Industry Showcase are two powerful voices who truly LOVE Kindie music; Kids Corner/WXPN-FM host Kathy O’Connell and Kids Place Live/SiriusXM host Mindy Thomas!
Kathy has been championing radio for kids for over 30 years, first as host of Small Things Considered in New York City, then co-host of America’s first national kids radio program KIDS AMERICA, followed by hosting Kids Corner in Philadelphia on WXPN-FM (now into its 28th year!). When not hanging at Kids Corner, Kathy loves her dog, her passion for classic television and all things Soupy Sales!
As host of the Absolutely Mindy Show – part of Kids Place Live on SiriusXM – Mindy considers it just an excuse to prolong her own childhood, which she spent sitting in her closet playing radio. She had the number one radio station in the whole house, and this gave her confidence to try it after college. When she’s not busy talking into her hairbrush microphone, she can be found playing in the great outdoors, teaching her cat how to smile, trying to learn the banjo, paying parking tickets, or dancing like a hillbilly!
Just as we did in our inaugural year, KindieComm has selected a mix of established Kindie artists as well as those just entering the wonderful world of Kindie to create another great KindieComm Industry Showcase!
