What Is Kindie?

“Kindie” is an abbreviated term that stands for independent kids’ music: a style of children’s music that melds the sensibility of the singer-songwriter with themes aimed at kids under twelve years of age.

What Is KindieComm?

Since 1988 WXPN has been home to the Peabody Award-winning program Kids Corner, hosted by Kathy O’Connell and produced by Robert Drake. What you might not know is that WXPN is also home to the Non-COMMvention – an annual gathering of radio programmers and industry types from adult album alternative and public radio stations across the country.

KindieComm will serve the Kindie community with the same passion that the Non-COMMvention has delivered to the alt-radio community since 2000. KindieComm will strive to capture the camaraderie and creativity of our musical family, while sharing useful information in an intimate setting.

And the music…OH! The music!!

Kids Corner and WXPN have been advocates for independent kids’ music from the beginning. In fact, Kathy has been playing music for families on the radio for well over three decades and has never been so excited about the field. With KindieComm, we take that advocacy to its next level. Our hope is that this annual gathering will inspire and inform both Kindie musicians along with its fans and supporters.

Robert and Kathy work closely with many of their Kindie contacts to help make sure all the right elements are in place making KindieComm THE Kindie gathering of the year – we hope you will join us!
