Arriving To KindieComm

bannerRegistrationAs the days dwindle down, to a precious few – before we all gather for a wonderful time at the inaugural KindieComm … a few random things:

Metered parking is available on the streets around the venue – it’s kiosk-driven (see here for an explanation: http://www.visitphilly.com/parking) … additionally, there is a parking lot underneath Walnut Street, run by the University of Pennsylvania.  To access it from Walnut Street, simply travel west to 32nd Street, make a right and go one block to Chestnut Street. You’ll notice that many of our streets are one way, so it’s hard to get ‘truly’ lost.

Once on Chestnut, travel east to 31st Street – it’s immediately after the railroad track underpass. Turn right onto 31st Street and go to the end of the street – the parking lot is straight ahead. You can enter World Cafe Live from their downstairs entrance – adjacent to the concrete staircase that takes folks up to Walnut Street. The downstairs entrance has both a World Cafe Live and WXPN sign above it as well as the words “Donor Alley”  (commemorating all the listeners of WXPN that donated to help us build this building back in 2004).

Whether you enter downstairs or through the main entrance on Walnut Street, just follow the signs to the KindieComm Registration/Check-In table. Here you’ll be able to get your KindieComm name badge, KindieComm program guide and answers to any question you might have. For those last-minute arrivals, we will be set up to process walk-up registrations on Saturday at the same $90 registration price.

free-coffeeA complimentary continental breakfast will be available; including a selection of danish, muffins, and bagels (accompanied by butter and cream cheese), fresh fruit (both cut up and whole) and a selection of fruit juices (orange, cranberry, and grapefruit). This breakfast will be available from 9-11am.

Starting at 9am KindieComm will also provide FREE regular & decaffeinated coffee, assorted herbal teas and pitchers of ice water throughout the day (until 4:30pm).

The fully-stocked bar will be open in the main venue of World Cafe Live from 9am-5pm and again 7:30pm until 11:45pm and can handle both cash and credit cards.

As for your complimentary KindieComm Box Lunch – it will be assorted sandwiches (roast beef or hummus or chicken salad), a bag of chips, whole fruit, cookie and a can of soda. Please let a World Cafe Live server know if you have dietary restrictions and they will work to help accommodate you as best as possible.

At the KindieComm Registration / Check-In table you’ll find a list of dining options that are nearby to consider for the dining break (5-8pm).  As of now, the weather forecast looks wonderful – sunny skies and a high in the low 80s – so walking to/from the Sheraton University City hotel will be a breeze!

Oh, and yes – World Cafe Live does offer free WIFI within the venue … however, as is true with most free WIFI, it’s not the greatest signal in the world – but it’s there if needed.

Finally, for those who purchased ticket(s) to Sunday’s public show when you registered, your name will be at the Will Call table Sunday morning – doors open at 10:30am – music starts at 11am. If you didn’t purchase a ticket, have no fear – you can purchase them at the door Sunday morning – just $15 each to enjoy Trout Fishing In America, Dan Zanes, Lucky Diaz, Jennifer Gasoi and Justin Roberts. The show should be over around 1pm – for those trying to map out their travel home Sunday afternoon.

We’re looking forward to seeing you this weekend at KindieComm!
