It’s Kathy O’Connell from Kids Corner/WXPN-FM in Philadelphia.
I don’t know about you, but after the announcement of its end, I had a KindieFest-sized hole in my soul.
So much so that I am thrilled to announce that Kids Corner and WXPN have moved to create KindieComm … a weekend designed to nurture the Kindie community from all angles.
As you might know, WXPN-FM is also home to the Non-COMMvention – an annual gathering of radio programmers and industry types from adult album alternative and public radio stations across the country.
KindieComm will serve the Kindie community with the same passion that the Non-COMMvention has delivered to the alt-radio community since 2000. KindieComm will strive to capture the camaraderie and creativity of our musical family, while sharing useful information in an intimate setting.
And the music…OH! The music!!
I have been playing music for families on the radio for 30 years, and I have never been so excited about the field. Kids Corner and WXPN have been advocates for independent kids’ music from the beginning. With the creation of KindieComm , we will take that advocacy to its next level. Our dream is that this annual gathering will inspire and inform musicians and the community of folks who comprise the infrastructure that supports and maintains the Kindie genre.
Kids Corner Producer Robert Drake and I are working closely with many of our Kindie contacts to help make sure all the right elements are in place making this THE Kindie gathering of the year – we hope you will join us!
For now, I ask that you save the date: Saturday, June 28 & Sunday, June 29, 2014 and join us in Philadelphia for the debut of KindieComm, where it’s all about the music … for kids.
Within the coming weeks we will open up Early-Bird Registration and roll out the details for this year’s KINDIECOMM, but for now – HOLD THE DATES FOR KINDIECOMM: JUNE 28 & 29, 2014 – and please join our KindieComm community on Facebook:

All the best,
