The winter (weather) of our discontent has led to a series of delays – however, we are thrilled to roll out KindieComm 2014 – Saturday, June 28 at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia!
In talking with many Kindie folk, it seems the key attraction of KindieComm is networking. With that as our goal, Kathy O’Connell and I have created a day of networking opportunities mixed with breakout sessions offering a balance of informational and inspirational content.
In true Kids Corner fashion, KindieComm will stress an interactive atmosphere, starting with:
9am: Free continental breakfast & free coffee/tea all day – plus cash bar all day
10am: Kathy O’Connell Welcome Remarks and TED-inspired talk
10:20 – 11am: Dan Zanes House Party: Songs and Stories from America’s Neighborhoods
11:15 – Noon: BREAKOUT ONE (there will be two concurrent sessions during each Breakout)
a “Lights! Camera! Music!” / making quality music videos without breaking the bank
b “Marketing 101” / learning the basics of marketing your music to the masses
Noon – 1pm: Yes Virginia, there is a Free Lunch!
You read that right – KindieComm will provide a FREE box lunch to all those registered; under each lid will be a color dot sticker – attendees are encouraged (but not required) to grab a seat at a matching color table and meet new Kindie friends over lunch!
1:15 – 2pm: BREAKOUT TWO
a “Music Heals” / helping others with your music
b “Beyond The Concert” / alternate distribution methods for your music
2-3pm: Networking 2.0
This hour is set aside for casual networking with other attendees of KindieComm … additionally several Kindie media folk (both broadcasters and bloggers) will be stationed to give you a few minutes of one-on-one time to chat
3-3:45pm BREAKOUT THREE
a “Take Back The Sound” / in-house audio production techniques
b “If You Build It, Will They Come?” / creating a kids music festival from scratch
4:15 – 5pm Singer/Songwriter Barry Louis Polisar tells his tale in a TED-inspired talk
5-8pm: DINNER BREAK / nearby locations will be offered as options
8pm-Midnight: KINDIECOMM INDUSTRY SHOWCASE … featuring a dozen bands representing the wide scope of the wonderful world of Kindie!
Details about each Breakout session will be posted shortly. We designed these sessions to be less of a formal panel and more of an interactive conversation moderated by two or three people. This will hopefully increase the flow of ideas and creativity within each session.
Details on how you can apply to be considered for the KINDIECOMM INDUSTRY SHOWCASE will also be posted shortly.
For those arriving in Philadelphia the night before, we will be hosting a casual gathering Friday evening just to mix and mingle. We will also be producing the Kids Corner Music Festival showcase for the general public on Sunday, June 29 at World Cafe Live featuring performances by Dan Zanes, Trout Fishing In America and Lucky Diaz! Tickets to Sunday’s show are separate from your registration and you can reserve yours ($15 per) when you register for KindieComm .
Also making its debut is the KINDIECOMM MAILROOM – a designated area where Kindie artists can drop off their latest CDs, media kits and more to those Kindie media folk attending KindieComm . This area will be staffed all day long and be equipped with extra pens/paper for those last-minute personalized notes you might want to include with your items. The purpose of the KindieComm Mailroom is to relieve the stress of hunting down every broadcaster and blogger in attendance. By utilizing this free service, everyone can relax and make the most of their KindieComm experience!
Early Bird Registration for KindieComm (until May 1) is just $75 – after May 1, registration for KindieComm is $90.
(registration includes free continental breakfast and a free box lunch)
